In astronomy, Cosmogony refers to the study of the origin of particular astrophysical objects or systems and is most commonly used in reference to the origin of the universe, the Solar System, or the Earth. Cosmogony does not only relate to scientific theories, but also has connections to the humanities, more specifically creation myths. 

Creation, or cosmogonic myths, explain the creation of the universe or the cosmos by either.
There wasn’t clear unanimity on what Chaos was…
Some thought Chaos created the specific bodies of the cosmos; others, the cosmos itself and order… 

Chaos is described as…

“… the dark, silent abyss from which all things came into existence…”
